Cisco CWDM-GBIC-1510 GBIC Transceiver Module – 1000BASE-CWDM 1510nm
The Cisco CWDM-GBIC-1510 is a Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) designed for 1000BASE-CWDM Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over single-mode fiber. It operates at the 1510nm CWDM wavelength and is part of Cisco's eight-wavelength CWDM GBIC family.
The module uses a duplex SC optical connector and is designed to work with compatible Cisco CWDM optical infrastructure, including CWDM multiplexer/demultiplexer and OADM systems. Its fixed 1510nm wavelength allows multiple Gigabit Ethernet channels to be carried over shared single-mode fiber when deployed with compatible CWDM components.

Cisco CWDM-GBIC-1510 CWDM Compatibility
The Cisco CWDM-GBIC-1510 is designed to operate as the 1510nm channel within Cisco CWDM systems. Cisco documents eight CWDM wavelengths: 1470nm, 1490nm, 1510nm, 1530nm, 1550nm, 1570nm, 1590nm, and 1610nm.
The 1510nm GBIC is color-coded blue within Cisco's CWDM system. Compatible Cisco CWDM MUX/DEMUX and OADM equipment should be used to combine multiple wavelength channels over shared single-mode fiber.
Important: CWDM-GBIC-1510 is not a standard 1000BASE-LX/LH GBIC. It is a wavelength-specific CWDM GBIC and must be deployed with compatible CWDM optical infrastructure and a corresponding 1510nm optical path.
Optical Reach
Actual transmission distance depends on the complete CWDM optical system, fiber characteristics, connector losses, multiplexer/OADM insertion loss, and optical link budget. Cisco documentation for its ONS CWDM systems indicates CWDM GBIC deployments can support approximately 100–120 km depending on the specific system configuration. Therefore, a fixed 80km distance should not be treated as a universal OEM specification for this GBIC.
