The Cisco CWDM-OADM1-1510 is a passive Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer module designed to add and drop the 1510nm optical channel within a CWDM network. It provides dual single-channel add/drop functionality, allowing the 1510nm wavelength to be added or dropped in both directions of a CWDM optical ring.
Unlike an active Ethernet optical transceiver, the CWDM-OADM1-1510 is a passive optical networking component. It does not generate, receive or electrically convert Ethernet signals. Instead, it routes the 1510nm optical wavelength through a compatible Cisco CWDM passive optical system.

1510nm CWDM Optical Add/Drop
The Cisco CWDM-OADM1-1510 is specifically designed for the 1510nm CWDM channel. In a CWDM ring, it can add a local 1510nm service onto the optical network and drop the corresponding 1510nm service from the network. Other CWDM wavelengths continue through the optical path.
Dual Single-Channel OADM Architecture
Cisco's dual single-channel OADM architecture allows the 1510nm channel to be added and dropped in both directions of an optical ring. Cisco specifies two network fiber strands for the OADM and a maximum of two Gigabit Ethernet links in this architecture.
1510nm Blue Color Coding
Cisco uses color coding to identify the individual CWDM wavelengths. The CWDM-OADM1-1510 uses a blue connector color code, corresponding to the 1510nm CWDM channel.
Optical Monitoring
The OADM architecture includes a monitor port that can be connected to an optical power meter or optical spectrum analyzer. This provides optical monitoring and troubleshooting capability within the CWDM network without replacing the primary optical path.

Compatibility
The Cisco CWDM-OADM1-1510 is intended for use within Cisco CWDM passive optical systems and compatible CWDM chassis. Cisco identifies the CWDM-CHASSIS-2= as a 2-slot, 1RU chassis for the CWDM passive optical system.
The OADM should be paired with a compatible 1510nm CWDM optical transceiver. Verify the wavelength, connector type, chassis compatibility and complete optical link budget before deployment.
Important: Passive OADM, Not an Active Transceiver
Although this product may be described by some sellers as a “transceiver OADM module,” the Cisco CWDM-OADM1-1510 is a passive optical add/drop module. It does not contain an Ethernet transmitter or receiver and does not provide an independent electrical network interface. Its purpose is wavelength routing within a CWDM optical network.
End-of-Sale Information
Cisco has announced the CWDM-OADM1-1510= as part of the end-of-sale Cisco CWDM OADM product family. Cisco states that there is currently no replacement available for the CWDM OADM modules. Cisco's published lifecycle information gives August 31, 2029 as the end of hardware support for the affected products.
