However, for most users looking for a feature-rich NAS, solutions from Synology or QNAP offer better software, more features, and a more polished user experience. The RDS is really best for MikroTik purists and specific use cases where tight integration with other RouterOS devices is valuable.

It's important to note that while RDS is a legitimate MikroTik product, it has always been a niche offering and hasn't seen the same level of development attention as their routing and switching lines.
