The Cisco C1200-8T-E-2G is a compact managed Ethernet switch
from the Cisco Catalyst 1200 Series, designed for small and
medium-sized businesses, branch offices, retail environments, classrooms,
and enterprise access networks. It provides 8 × 10/100/1000BASE-T
Gigabit Ethernet ports together with 2 × Gigabit
copper/SFP combo ports for flexible uplink connectivity.
The two combo interfaces can operate as either Gigabit RJ-45 copper or
Gigabit SFP ports, depending on the selected connection and network
configuration. This gives network administrators the flexibility to use
copper uplinks or compatible fiber transceivers without requiring a
separate dedicated uplink module.
With 20 Gbps switching capacity and up to
14.88 Mpps forwarding performance, the C1200-8T-E-2G
provides wire-speed, nonblocking switching for connected Gigabit devices.
Its fanless design helps provide quiet operation, while the compact

8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity
The eight dedicated 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 ports provide
Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for workstations, servers, printers, IP
devices, wireless access points, and other network equipment. Automatic
speed and duplex negotiation simplifies deployment across mixed-speed
Ethernet environments.
2 Gigabit Copper/SFP Combo Uplinks
The C1200-8T-E-2G includes 2 Gigabit copper/SFP combo ports.
Each combo interface can be used as either a Gigabit RJ-45 copper interface
or a Gigabit SFP interface. The two modes are alternative uses of the same
physical combo interface rather than additional simultaneous ports.
When fiber connectivity is required, compatible Gigabit SFP transceivers
can be installed in the SFP side of the combo interface. For copper
connectivity, the corresponding RJ-45 interface can be used instead.
Transceiver compatibility should be checked against Cisco documentation
before deployment.
20 Gbps Switching Capacity
The switch provides 20 Gbps switching capacity and up to
14.88 Mpps forwarding performance. Cisco specifies the
Catalyst 1200 switches as wire-speed and nonblocking, making the
C1200-8T-E-2G suitable for simultaneous Gigabit traffic across its
network interfaces.
Managed Cisco Networking
The Catalyst 1200 platform provides managed networking capabilities for

C1200-8T-D is a smaller desktop model without the two combo uplink
interfaces.
